To all our prospective patients and visitors who ask about self-contained accommodation, we have some good news.
We have discovered a new hotel and restaurant local to the clinic (1 mile as the crow flies).
Set in wooded farmland on the outskirts of Hitchin, the Redcoats Farmhouse and Hotel is just what we need for our patients. It has a reputation as a fine dining restaurant (15 years’ unbroken AA Gold Awards) but more than that, the proprietors really care about their residents and will go the extra mile for the special requirements of the dietary needs of our patients.
They have lovely rooms freshly refurbished with lovely bathrooms and good quality soft furnishings. Most rooms have a large desk and Wi-Fi for working comfortably away from home.
More importantly, for those wishing to be self-catered and to have more control over their food preparation, there is a cottage for rent which has everything you need to be self-contained. Please ask about the cottage if you require self-catering.
The reports we are getting from our patients staying at Redcoats is that they cannot do enough to help. Nothing is too much trouble; food is all freshly cooked and no processed foods and they will prepare patients’ own food like gluten-free porridge oats in the morning, for example. They are really happy to look after our patients in a very caring and obliging way. Five stars to Redcoats.
Call them directly to enquire about the cottage: Reservations: 01438 729500
The rates will vary according to size of room, etc.
Take the photo virtual tour, you can really see for yourself how lovely it is: http://www.virtutour.com/jobs/redcoats/virtual_tour/tour.htm
You will need to hire a car or come in by taxi each day, it is only a short drive but not within walking distance of the clinic, unfortunately.
